Exactly who is Tyler Clippard?

He is the 11th starting pitcher that the Yankees are using in this still young season. From Trinity, Florida, the righty was drafted in the 9th round of the 2003 Amateur Draft at the age of 18.

From what I hear he has a decent fastball topping out at around 93-94 mph. Not bad, for the minors where is has a record of 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA in eight starts this season.

Not quite ready for the majors but the Yankees have no other choice. I think it’s good that they bring all the young pitchers up. We all know the one thing the Yanks need is good quality pitching from within the organization instead of going out and getting one of those old washed-up free-agent players (with their best years behind them). They may not get it from these rookies this season, but at least they’ll get some experience in the majors, whether it be good or bad.

All the Yankees ask from this guy is to throw strikes, get outs and keep them in the game!
